Requirements for the SASSA Disability Grant

Eligibility Conditions to Qualify for Disability Grant
Conditions for Applicants Above 18
- Applicant must be a South African citizen, permanent resident or Refugee
- Applicant must be in South Africa at the time of application
- applicant age must be 18 or more
- Applicant’s age must be less than 59 years
- They must have a 13-digit (ID)
- For single or unmarried: your income must be R86 280 or less
- For married: your income must be R172 560 or less
- For single or unmarried: worth of assets must be R1 227 600 or less
- For married: worth of assets must be R2 455 200 or less
- Medical report to prove your disability by a state doctor.
- Your last medical reports
- The current and last reports will make a final report for SASSA.
- The report validity time is three months.
Conditions for Applicants Less than 18
- Under 18 must be cared for by caretaker
- Your permanent caretaker is allowed to apply on your behalf.
- In the case of ID absence, apply for ID at the Office of Home Affairs

- find the reason why the application is declined from social security office
- explain the reason why you disagree.
- Your appeal will take a maximum of 90 days to notify you.
